DAY 1:    Sweet.. finished first run of my new best sport! Well, i finished it 2 days ago but just getting around to writing. From everything i’ve read, it’s super smart to start out slow! So, that’s exactly what i’m going to do… I can’t afford any more injuries and if Barefoot running fixes those… WOOOT!!!  so … i’m playing turtle here… yep slow and steady for me..

I had are really great time on my first run… not fast… i plugged along … ran 1/2 mile in 6:22… yep… no world records for me… hehehe.. but is was just very cool feeling the cold ground under my toes… it’s funny… you really don’t feel anything in shoes!! I was feeling the temperature of the concrete, the cracks!! wow… with shoes you don’t even realize they are there…. without them??? OH YES… they feel like mini- canyons!!

Form… hmmm… not so good … but hey… that’s why i’m learning… i caught myself reaching with my legs… i had to remember to just lift them and not extend them… also, had to remember to keep my pelvis level!! i think that is huge!! Even though the distance and time were not great i felt as if i could have run much much further and faster! But, i told myself i’d not go anymore than 5-6 minutes per day for the first Week.. then keep adding on 5-6 minutes each Week…

I’ve also really enjoyed some Tarahumara cooking (Pinole!) I make it very traditional (well, as far as American Traditional goes)… i think there is a big difference when you use the “Masa Harina” .. that’s like Corn Meal but it has been treated with Lime… (no not the Fruit type)… there is definitely a different taste… i like it better than the Corn Meal… After i have toasted the Masa Harina… i mix in Honey, Cinnamon, Chia Seeds and Water… then i bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes… easy pezzy!  Also really like Chia Fresca… that’s water with Chia Seeds and Lemon juice…. 🙂  yummm…
